Phil Meadley
Phil Meadley is a UK based DJ/compiler and music journalist. He is the main man behind the recent compilation "Beginner’s Guide To Bellydance" and has DJd at many top UK festivals (and abroad) and club nights both in his own right and as part of The Outernationalists (with Simon Emmerson from Afro-Celt Sound System/Imagined Village) Shisha Sound System, and his new collective The Gaslight Troubadours (with Hami Mantu from Transglobal Underground and Shugs). He’s also been lucky enough to provide DJ support for Khaled, Rachid Taha, Misty In Roots, and The Gotan Project amongst others.

As a compiler he has released over forty titles including Indestructible Arabian Beats, Beginner’s Guide To Eastern Europe, The Essential Guide To Arabia, Arabia The Essential Album, A Night In Marrakech, A Night In Istanbul, Bar Istanbul, Beginner’s Guide To Arabian Lounge, The Marrakech Mission, and most recently Run Devils & Demons: The Best Of Transglobal Underground.

As a music journalist he's written extensively for The Independent, Observer Music Monthly, Songlines, and The New Statesman, and has interviewed the likes of Massive Attack, Moby, Gogol Bordello, Balkan Beat Box, David Byrne, Khaled, Damon Albarn, Air, Zero 7, Rachid Taha, Rufus Wainwright, and TV On The Radio.

His latest compilation for Solace’s Eventide Music Productions label is entitled Waltzes, Glitches & Brass: The New Sounds Of Vaudeville and features Frédérique David on the cover.
